Looking For A Creative Bounce Board

Screenwriting is fun and complicated puzzle and sometimes the pieces are there but you can't see where they fit. That's why having a great, creative bounce board is always a great asset. So, I guess what I'm saying is, anyone out there want to be a creative bounce board (it goes both ways).

A word of warning, you really need to trust the person that you throw all your ideas at !! After all, these ideas are not protected.

Good Advice Alex..... You are Correct!

Alex Sarris

Thanks Janet, Truth is someone could take your ideas, create a blockbuster and leave you out in the cold. No credit, No money. A big Zilch !!!

A good idea doesn't necessarily mean a great screenplay, just like a good idea doesn't guarantee a successful business. I'm not suspicious enough to imagine that there are writers out there just waiting to steal my ' incredible idea' and write a killer screenplay. Chances are, no matter what your idea is, it's been thought of, or written about, already. You have to make sure that the execution of your idea is unique enough to make it interesting and entertaining. Feedback helps you improve your work, it's as fundamental as rewriting. Remember, Newton and Von Leibniz both developed calculus, simultaneously and independently!

What about a bad script... that is a great idea?

Eoin O'Sullivan

If it's a bad script, it will be judged as a bad script, regardless of the idea at it's core . . . people may not get past the first 10 pages, let alone finish the script. That's why you shouldn't be afraid to ask for feedback, it turns your lump of carbon into a brilliantly cut diamond. Fear holds everyone back in life. Don't be afraid that someone will steal your idea. If you share it (with a writing friend you trust if that's what is needed) you may find that it has been done already - how unique is your 'precious idea' now!? BUT, you might find a way to make it unique. OR you might find the execution isn't great and you might find ways to IMPROVE IT. Don't write in a vacuum, as writers we need to breathe.

Failtie.... Eoin, thank you for the feedback.... Slaintie.

Hi Trista, I would like to bounce creative ideas around with you. I don't trust to just post my screenplays on this site...I've put my logline and couldn't bring myself to place even the synopsis on here...are you concerned in this way on this site?
