Introduce Yourself : Can't Bully Me Now Musical by Lisa Barrett

Hi, I'm Lisa Barrett from Western New York. I wrote a short hands-on musical for kids to help them with bullying, called "Can't Bully Me Now"! The inspiration came from my nephew who was violently bullied, and also from the teasing that I endured as a child. My nephew was held down on the school bus and punched. The bully told him that he had to "just take it"! Well...victims of bullying DO NOT have to take it!!! I started out as a Singer/Songwriter, so I wrote a song for him, but I felt that just wasn't enough. I had to make a difference somehow! I figured if I could write a song that I should be able to write a script... and so the musical was born! "Can't Bully Me Now" teaches kids about compassion, empathy, and kindness, and the role of the bystander. It also gives them simple steps to overcome bullying if it happens to them.
