As it is oft said; it is not ' What' but 'Who' you know in this business and let's face WE the vast majority of hopeful dreamers around here don't know anyone. As a career analyst the other thing I have noticed in this business is that everyone has to independently reinvent the wheel and start from below the bottom rung every time, everyone trying to climb over one another. What a waste of time not to mention talent. When I asked about this, on another web site, I was firmly put in my place as the 'New Kid' and told it has always been so... get used to it ! Other observations of mine directed towards dear old Hollywood and TV program producers with their sad lack of original thought and over milking the same old cash cows didn't even raise an eyebrow. Just how many times can the reinvent Sherlock Holmes and keep sticking numbers after successful movies before they actually give in and accept the fact they really, really need some new talent with fresh ideas. My question is are we our own worst enemies by remaining in the neat little pigeon holes the establishment puts us in? For instance I am a novelist, I am not a screen writer, I do not know how, yet I have been told my stories might make a new mini TV series. Question How ? Do I have to go on a screen writers course to learn how to write for a different market ? Or worse employ a screen writer to do the job for me.... at what cost? Then what ? How do I get my new project before the right eyes ? Now I'm into PR and marketing ! See what I mean ? All the necessary talent is right here and surely if Stage 32 was to become a company is there anything between us we don't know including who the important 'Who's are in this world ?
