Acting : Stand out webseries? by Rebecca Grace Watson

Stand out webseries?

More and more people are developing their own webseries for a variety of reasons (sliding into SAG, exposure, showcasing skills) - but what really stands out in that medium? What makes you return to a youtube channel or check for weekly video uploads? Are there actors that you admire who started with their own online content? Are you producing anything web-based right now? I would love your input!

The only one I really liked was "The Guild", created by Felicia Day. This is a music video "Do you wanna date my Avatar" from those webseries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urNyg1ftMIU I find it quite entertaining. That would be a standard of quality and content. "The Guild" is well written and well produced show on youtube, now in 6th season. It is really hard to achieve this kind of quality when you do your own webseries. But that should be our aim, right?

For me, it's always about the story and characters. I've seen many web series, and even speak on panels on how to make your own and get followers, etc., but if you don't have a good story, you've got nothin.' Also production values keep me coming back. Can't stand to watch something that was done with no sound/production values. My award winning web series is in its second season. Great Job, Devin. Congrats on your awards! Agree about the story. I watched other episodes of your web series, and the one about the date with a Doctor is awesome. Also, costumes look great as well and I really like this part, too. Thanks for sharing.
