I haven’t done crowdfunding for a project before, now I’m faced with this decision. I’ve read up on both, but I want to know from people who have used either or both — Kickstarter or Indie GoGo? My budget will be small since it's for a short film. Any advice?

Fewer people support Indie go go's flexible funding option.
That's the best way that's been described. Thank you.
Set it at the barebones amount you need and hopefully it will go over.
Give upo ans spend it on alcohol ... you might get a good idea for a film
You would think I've been drinking in the above comment ...hic! I haven't.
By my side: Juntobox + Indigogo
look into this new one im going to use http://greenlightcrowdfunding.com/
Kickstarter won't even let me get a campaign started, but Indiegogo will. However, I never received any money from any Indiegogo campaign, forcing me to go out of pocket.
From my understanding, kickstarter is better known, but all in, if you don't raise full amount you lose it all. Indiegogo is slightly less known, but you don't lose it all, just 'pay' a bigger %. Hope that helps.

The one thing about fixed goals like Kickstarter is that it gives sense of urgency to help your pitch to backers. If they know you NEED their money, they'll (theoretically) be more willing to help you. Also — depending on your project, a fixed goal may be better. If you need $10K to make your movie but can only raise $8K, then you still can't make your movie — so why bother committing to the rewards and completion when you still can't afford it? On the other hand, if you just need finishing funds or the like, where every dollar helps, Indiegogo's flexible goals can be useful. (Indiegogo offers a fixed funding option as well). As a donor, Kickstarter's payment system is cleaner and easier to use; a few clicks and you're done. Indiegogo's is more complicated and can serve as an annoyance, and therefore an obstacle, to payment. Both companies are solid, though.

Also — Indiegogo provides the ability to potentially write a donation off as tax-deductible (assuming your project is set up that way). Kickstarter doesn't have that.

I have heard more about indiegogo than kickstarter. I would go with the former rather than the latter.
I have also read up on both. Indie Go Go seems to have a more flexible fund raising platform. You might like that one.
From what I understand, and it's a limited understanding, you have to get fully funded on Kickstarter to get any of the pledges. On Indiegogo you set a goal but still get what's pledged if that goal isn't met.
Indiegogo is really great Ive done projects which the client started initially and got the rest of the money from the site
