Reboots: Is Hollywood lazy, greedy or lacking original ideas?

We all know the CRAZY AMOUNT of reboots that Hollywood has been throwing at us these last years. But why is this happening more and more? Is Hollywood lazy, greedy, lacking original ideas or all combined? (Personally i only have ONE reboot that i appreciate: The Grudge)

Cory Wess

Let's not talk about who is and is not greedy. Lazy? No one who successfully produces a movie can be called lazy. Are they lacking original ideas? Always. A good business principle is to go after low hanging fruit. The film INDUSTRY is a business; not an art experience. Marvel knows if they release Iron Man 15 with RDJr you'll go see it; but if they release a movie about Bird-Brain, Sugar Man, Comet Man and Max, Spider-Ham, Hellcow, The Asbestos Lady, or... wait for it... Howard The Duck, you probably won't. Therefore, which is a better business decision?
