Tara, as long as your teacher has those legit contacts, you should always hit them up for help. I teach in Atlanta, and I beg my actors to ask me questions about the business: headshots, resumes, reels, agents, auditions, on-set etiquette, etc. They should be more than willing to help you. When I have an actor who shows ambition like that, it makes me want to help them that much more. But the actors who are quiet and just "do their work" end up taking longer to progress, because they're not being proactive.
