Well, after trying advertising, crowd funding, social networking, working, I have come to the conclusion that I must be missing something very big. On the verge of total fiscal collapse, I ask of those that have been successful. How did you do it? What was it that made your success possible?

James! I've missed you- been working, traveling (for family reasons) etc. How have you been? What happened to your boat trip? I haven't made a dime yet, so I keep writing - lol. I'll let you know when I make a dime. I'm headed up to LA Tuesday to have lunch with an actress producer who signed on for Dead Serious. We haven't given up yet!

I'm in the same exact boat. I too have tried begging via crowd-funding, friends, family, etc., et all. I can't even raise a measly $410 for research. So I am stuck having to write a story that is 1/2 non-fiction and 1/2 fiction. I've no choice but to write the main part as non-fiction and interlace it with fiction. I was so hoping to write 100% non-fiction. I am deeply hurt. I am beginning to hate Holly"weird" as it is a multi-hundred dollar business as well as the novel industry that is a multi-million dollar industry. I'm not asking for the world yet I am being treated as if I am wanting to be equal to Bill Gates or Warren Buffett! Ugh! All I'm asking for is the funds to do the research on my first non-fiction work. Good luck!

You have to keep plugging away at it, every single day, it's as simple as that. No hard work, no success!
Thank all :) LB I have been going through one hell of a summer, so much has been lost it would make a good drama, if I was a writer. The boat is on hold, I had to sell the trailer that would transport it for food. I have also not been online for a long time, almost two months. I am using my neighbor's internet right now, because i can no longer afford my own. Every-time I think I have hit bottom and can only go up the bottom falls out and it just gets worse.
Very true trying to survive does get in the way of being creative. :) Things will get better though, I am sure of it, just not sure when lol

Aw James! You're breaking my heart friend :( I wish you were near and we could get together over a good strong cup of coffee and laugh at life. Your sense of humer is always a bright spot to me, but I hear your pain under your strong upper lip. Please know that I think about you often and am always glad to have news of you- good or bad. We care James- you're one of the good ones. Charge on and don't give up. Even small steps can make a differance <3

Good for you James! I've been writing mostly. DEAD SERIOUS is going through a rewrite. I've added Vampires and werewolves- lol. Sounds crazy, but there was an interest for it. Also I've written a pilot script and bible for a TV series. Prospects looking good, I'll keep you posted. :)

I just threw caution to the wind. I have an awesome script and a hell of a cast. I got my funding for my movie because its an awesome script. I stayed away from boy mets girl, good guy takes on the world, all the everyday tyipcal scripts you can see on TV late nights. My script is about women empowerment in the 1860s civil war torn Arizona/New Mexico Territory. Extemely period correct and start filming in February 2014. It's all in the script and how well the investor(s) like it. If they like it they'll consider it. If the LOVE it they'll invest in it. I have 4 more movies I am doing after this one.
