I have a question here. I am thinking about writing a comedy about religion (either a feature film or TV series) and frankly I want to star in it myself. Would that be a good start for someone just getting into acting or should I look for other talent? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I see no reason to not try it. How about attempting a "pilot" for the TV series or a short film? Something around 10/15 minutes that showcases your talents as a writer/actor. That's a great way to start - doesn't cost much, shows you're serious and you will learn either way. Maybe you'll find you would rather look for other talent. So stop thinking about writing and write!
Thank you D Marcus.
Thanks for the feedback Thomas.
I have been debating on either religion or pro wrestling as my subject.
I know many people who treat pro wrestling as a religion, so either should work ;)
Oh I know about that Tony. Been a fan since 6 years old and have worked the Independent wrestling scene in Colorado since 2010. I may just use that for my project. Great idea Tony McFadden.

Give it a short Richard. A good option is to try it as a web series. Get a camera and just get out there and create. Even create a few smaller projects to practice on. The only really bad project is one that never gets made.
Like that idea Tim. May just do that.

Shoot it and star in it...no better way to get your career started and going forward.
