"Don't get stuck doing horror"

How do you actors feel about roles in horror films? I've heard this quote many times before "don't get stuck doing horror." Now I'm beginning to wonder whether or not this is the way horror is perceived by the acting community. So how do you feel about taking horror roles? Is horror the last genre you'd want or do think you'd enjoy it?

Mark Souza

It seemed to work out okay for Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Jennifer Bailey

love doing horror!

Ren Kennedy

Ultimately I want to appear in projects that I am proud of and excited to be part of. I am not a fan of horror and have no desire to be in horrors but if you LOVE them then you should DO them and love being part of them :)

Alexandra Cruz

Oh, I'm definitely going to direct a horror! It's my love. I was just curious about the actors perspective :)

Saul Burgos

The big stigma with horror, is the statistics show that talent is more likely to fail, rather than succeed in their career if they do horror. Think about people in horror, what else have they done. Most you will never recognize. Now don't get me wrong, there are some who take on roles, but it is once they have an established career. And even then, there is uncertainty.

Mike Byrd

Horror roles can be a means to an end. I have a friend who worked as an actress on two pretty bad horror films, but a couple years later and she's on a hit TV show. It can be good practice and could always lead to bigger and better things.
