Introduce Yourself : Self-Taught Animator by Chris Ephriam

Happy Introduce Yourself Weekend! Or something like that! Well my name is Chris, and I am one of three brothers who have been experimenting in animation long before we even knew what it was! Around age of 11, we were introduced to "flip books" which consisted of drawing a single image on a piece of paper, and then drawing that same image slightly differently on another page. The process is repeated until you have a full motion. We dabbled with flip books for most of our young lives. When we reached middle school, we started doing freelance work that consisted of creating logos, graphics, and drawings for whoever asked for them. In high school, we created our very first cartoon called 2nd Avenue, which consisted of exaggerated events that had taken place in our lives while we lived on the street of 2nd Avenue in Los Angeles. As the years went by, we continued to experiment with animation and improve our technique with every new project. At this point, we've had the privilege of working on commercials, creating various types of intros, pilot episodes, short films, and we're even involved in the production of a feature length animated movie titled, "The Waterman Movie" starring the late Leslie Nielsen. We were recently recruited to create the animation for a short film called, "Political Earth" which was entered into a film contest and won third place, topping over six hundred other entries! We've also just finished work on an animated intro for a live action web series that's coming soon! With all of that said, so far it has been an amazing and exciting ride for us in our adventures of pursuing our dreams. We never thought that we'd get so far just from doing the best that we could with the little knowledge that we had, and never giving up.
