The love story interactions of my couple in my film are meant to be excruciatingly awkward and....

Do you think people will get it?

Shane M Wheeler

I think you're asking "Will people think it's an awkward couple or awkward acting/writing/etc.?" I can't say for certain without seeing your film, but in my mind it will depend on the strength of your actors, cinematography, and writing. A lot of awkward conveys in the face and vocal tone- stumbling over words, looking elsewhere, exaggerated expression/voice while nervous, long pauses, nervous laughter, etc. One part will be how your actors convey this, one part the cameras optimizing our ability to see the awkwardness, and one part the material they're given to work with. If all the elements are there, people will probably get it. Whether they like it or not depends on the greater context of the film. Awkwardness can be funny, heart breaking, or terrifying all depending on context. And if this was a "No duh" kind of answer, I apologize.

It is here under my reel, for you to see. No, that is a good answer. They were intentionally being awkward, because they'd both been off the playing field for awhile, which is the point of the story. Thank you for answering!
