Pitched a Horror-Thriller. Largely didn't present it in the best way I could. She wanted stronger characters and an arc, which the material has indeed.
Thanks. Already started. but I haven't heard anything back yet. This weekend was my first time pitching so I'm still learning the process. I guess it takes a few days. Either way i'll be ready.
Give me some advice on pitching. I've only pitched one other time, and that was for my reality tv pilot (which I had already shot and edited, so I knew the material). I believe I wasn't able to bring out the arc or characters as she needed.
I can share what I did but again this was my first time. You mentioned characters and their arcs. I developed actual back stories for all my major characters. I covered all their major events in their lives. From there I was able to draw a line from their pasts to their present knowing all the interactions. All told my back stories are around several hundred pages long and include significant relatives, associates, enemies, etc. That also allowed for over lapping story arcs that I could logically work with. The downside is any change in character menat going through tons of material to make it work but ultimately worth it I think. It made it easier for me to answer her questions in enough detail so she could see where I was going story wise.

I pitched to Morgan last night. Scifi film. She felt it would work better as a TV series, which it started out being before I changed course.
Good for you! Get to work on a pilot
