Short Film to web or not to web?!

Hello There! I am co-director of Bright Bean Productions, the humblest of production companies! We completed our first short, premiered it & managed to raise money for a homeless charity who helped us out majorly on our film (it looks at homelessness within the life of the main character)! However we are wondering about advice on how to proceed, we have not yet put it online as it is a nice romantic, drama with some funny elements, its a nice indie package but we want to insure it do-sent get lost online! Equally we want to 'get it out there' any advice? We are interested in distribution & raising more money for the charity within this but it is our first project so we are aware we need to build up a re-pore!! How forwarding & productive is it for a new company to share their work without hold backs online? Has anyone experience of this? Would love some professional incite, Lover of all things Filmic, Stephanie Hazel

How about submitting the short to web TV? They may pick it up.

Check out Amazon and of course the festival circuit. VOD and Netflix. Better to take a small deal then get lost as you say on Youtube. The free outlet will always be there. If it is not dated material, be patient. IMO

You may want to check out Vimeo on Demand if it makes sense for you... https://vimeo.com/ondemand Offers a 90/10 revenue split, pricing control, etc. You will still need to market it yourself. Also, http://www.distribber.com/ could be an option if you are trying to get on Netflix, Hulu etc and other marketplaces for exposure. Here is how they price their services: iTunes: If you are delivering just one standard definition (SD) film to iTunes, there is a one-time charge of $1295, which covers all the encoding, chapter breaking, tagging, and general caretaking that we’ll do to usher your film to full iTunes compliance and placement in the iTunes store. After that, there is a flat annual service fee of $79 per film. The first year’s service fee is included in your $1295. For high definition (HD) delivery, the charge is $1595. Netflix Watch Instantly: If you are also using Distribber to access iTunes, placement on Netflix Watch Instantly costs an additional $250 for SD and $395 for HD. Netflix Watch Instantly by itself costs $595 for SD and $795 for HD. The fee includes negotiating a streaming license for your film and handling delivery.
