Hi. My name is Joe Aiello, and I've been a member of the Writers Guild of America East since 1988, I have authored screenplays, non-fiction books, novels, TV sitcom pilots, news features, and documentaries. I've also written for papers, websites and magazines. I fill my spare time coaching College, A, AA amateur and semi-pro baseball teams; answering trivia quizzes; and denigrating myself attempting to play golf. I would stop writing if I could, but I like being able to breath in and out on regular basis.
I like your line about being able to breathe in and out on a regular basis.
I started writing to support myself when I was sixteen. I can't imagine what else I could do otherwise (until I was 18, I thought that manual labor was the name of a Hispanic kid I saw around school).
Very cool that you started writing so young. I did some construction work in my younger days, but also spent a lot of time with pen in hand.
Don't know 'bout you, but every person I've ever met I've sized up (at least as far as their behavior, dialogue, mannerisms, etc. were concerned.) as potential characters. I envy you the construction experience. There must have been a wealth of raw material to work from there.
Lots of good material there, and it's still fresh 30 years later.
