okay I learn in my directin g class about the director notebook and what is kept in one but what about Cinematographer do they have one and what kind of notes should their be besides a lighting plot?
Never thought too much about that, but measured distances might be good if you are doing manual/rack focus. Also if there is any 3d cg to be done, you would be amazed at how handy it is to the 3d artist to make note of your frame size, focal length, distance from and size of objects, including lights, for each shot. They can match the scene digitally much better for a more seamless fit.
And, if you are using any gels on lights, especially effects (not just light balance), it will help for setting up corresponding shots later to match style.
