He graduated from Glamorgan University with a Drama degree specialising in Acting and Script Writing. He has appeared in 'Sherlock: A Study in Pink', 'The Grumpy Guide' series, 'Not Going Out', 'Fool Britannia', 'Live at the Electric' and several commercials. Ben has written, produced and featured in many comedy sketches. This work can be seen on YOBI.tv, Funny or Die, YouTube, MySpace and BBC Comedy. His alias on these websites is Greensville. In addition, Ben works as a freelancer in television production. He had a sitcom optioned this year by Princess Productions and is currently in meetings with various TV production companies regarding his various scripts. http://www.thisisgreensville.com GUEST DIRECTOR /// JAMES STATIC James Static is an artist, filmmaker and former child theatre actor, as well as the founder of the London Filmmakers Network (see www.meetup.com/filmnetwork); and the Portobello Pop Up Cinema (see www.portobellopopup.com). He is most heavily influenced by what some might consider a distasteful cocktail of 1980s B-Movies and Eastern European Art House films. Whilst at college, he experimented with VHS videotape and Super 8 film stocks developed in his bath at home, which were edited using clunky videotape tracker-recorders and rusty 1950s-era film splicing equipment. In 2010 he wrote, produced and directed a 15-minute surreal dystopian short entitled 'Little Changes', shot on RED, which was nominated for Best International Short Film at the Minghella Film Festival (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkpY8VAfTZY). He is currently developing his first feature film, which is based on one of the supporting characters from 'Little Changes'. WORKSHOP /// GREEN + STATIC EXPLORE In this workshop two frequent collaborators, Ben Green + James Static, will be dividing the session, each to explore their own current projects. Ben will get the ball rolling, having actors explore scripts of a newly written TV sitcom, and one-act play. We will get these comedy scripts off the page with participants working on one of the two pieces in smaller groups followed by a pass to the class. As a group we will discuss and give feedback. In the second part of the workshop, James will lead a structured improvisation for a dinner party scene -- a large scene that is part of a semi-improvised feature film in development. He will be letting actors know which specific characters are involved in the scene, and which events must occur in which order, but much of the rest will be open to interpretation. He will also be filming the workshop so that he can explore the pros and cons of filming improvising actors with his own improvised camerawork, and seeing how one might feed the other in real time. **Please note, this workshop will be filmed for research purposes only. (A recent Green + Static collaboration -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAgPQnLcHuk) _________________________________________________________________ Remember to bring any pieces you might want to work on in SOLO! -- SOLO is time towards the end of class for you to dig in on any new writing projects, upcoming auditions, scenes, monologues etc. Have a pass at a new speech you're working, drag another actor up to run a scene with you, get a group up to run a scene you've written...whatever you need. This is your time! Use it! EMAIL info@transmissionworkshop.com to secure your place to participate in our upcoming workshop! See you MONDAY!
