Although I've not used it yet, I think the Canon C300 is going to be brilliant. For young professionals coming into the industry, go for a 7D and build up your lenses...
Thought 5d mark II is better than 7D for videos. I wanted to say it highly depends on where one wants to show it. Depends also on the budget of course, but if you want to do web series or any content primarily for viewing in PC/iphone/iPad/Mac is there a point going for more expensive cameras if you can do pretty good job with any of full frame Canon/Nikon and some excellent lenses? So ... it varies a lot I think. It's the age of technology, but if I were offered to shoot feature film that will be screened in cinemas with generous budget, even though I have no experience at either digital (Alexa) or film, I would go for film. It's just that more exciting. Same holds for stills photography. If I have budget and time and nerves/courage to shoot on film, I would go for it. I love the look of black and white film.
7D is very good, Im currently using a 550D, a Sony V1 and a Panasonic AF101. Aint tried out the C300 as of yet but looking forward to getting my hands on one.
completely agree with the film over digital situation but at the same time I can see why some companies prefer digital. I would love to get my hands on a RED Epic.
We are using 550D too! It's just our student television's only HD camera basically. And good luck not only with trying it out, but also working with it!
depends .. :P
On what good sir?

Would love to try film - but I'm digital all over. Ease of use wins.
The Canon 60D's my current rig.
