Got an e-mail not sure why he didn't just post it?, asking what the perfect "introduction reel" is? well, first and foremost I'll keep your name out of this, two as Sean RV says be more open, put yourself out there, in my opinion "Just be yourself!", you can't go wrong, or perhaps you will for some Producers, but chances are someone will bite at sometime, "PATIENCE!" when I first started it was with TVB now I'm running with my Manager and a very well known Sponsor who gave me the time of day, but only after some 100+ doors were slammed in my face, stick with it, push yourself, send e-mails, network, get whatever gig you can, don't look at the $ amount for now no one's going to chuck out HKD1Million on you if you have no experience and aren't "Bankable" I use that word alot, because Producers need someone reliable, trustworthy, and willing to work til they puke! still keen...........?! send me an e-mail anytime. hope this helps even in the slightest. Appreciate that Amit, but it's only my opinion, New guys / actresses to the scene need to understand there's little fame and fortune when you start, also need to position yourself carefully as with all businesses this one is no different, ruthless if you get it wrong, all it takes is to insult one Producer and chances are you'll be casted out for quite sometime. just in closing for now; I know a mate who got a gig, but they didn't like his tat's, so he had them removed, by the time he'd had them removed they'd casted someone else, moral of the story, don't change yourself, "Acting is Reacting". just another craft, best, Doc.A
@andre - I agree with most of your observations. As a producer, director, I get often irritated by new actors who want to talk money even before they have shown me their headshots or done a screentest. That tells me that you are not an artist but just a greedy person who thinks he walked inside a free Bank. Yes, ofcourse you should stand against exploitation & be smart about money but you need to be smarter about your art if you want some real opportunities.
Hey Amit, Wish more would join this discussion coudln't agree more, had someone ask me today how much he'd get for 5hrs TVC work, first and foremost it was on e-mail!!!! I don't even know the guy and I"m not an agent!!!!!!!! I'm an Actor, some twisted people out there mate, bottom line is I think people hit this industry thinking instant fame and fortune, doesn't work like that people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
