Hello- really enjoying networking on Stage 32! I specialize in turning dreams into reality- whether that's a TV series, short film, feature film, or anything else in between. There is nothing more exciting to me than bringing together a group of talented people and CREATING something- its the biggest thrill in the world! I currently have 3 TV series running in San Francisco. My production company has made 2 features and tons of shorts of all types. I also produce for hire, some of the work I'm most proud of was done with writer/director Julie Rubio and has international distribution. I work with a lot of students and I love to see them grow and learn in this industry and connecting them with people/projects that facilitate that. My biggest frustration is monetizing on things that we make- that's the hard & ugly part of our business, especially as an independent. The creative minds in the world should be able to create for a living, and I think the internet is offering a lot of opportunity for this. But unfortunately its usually "doberman on a water slide" and "baby sings a song" that make all the money, instead of indie filmmakers. But websites like this give me hope! Please feel free to send me network requests!
Very well put!
Thanks, Ray!

Hi Jody, very inspirational and an astute observation of the present internet trends. For me every thing is workable if the tools at hand are used to their full potential with focus. Sadly many good pieces of work are often hidden behind the glare of 15 min fame junkies!

Hey Jody! Glad to be here myself! I love your passion! Keep up the good work! I hope to cross paths some day! xx, Emily
Thanks Jody :~)
Hey Colin! Yes, and I have to admit that I'm a sucker for watching a doberman going down a waterslide! I had a wonderful doberman companion for 13 amazing years, so I was a sucker for any doberman video. I guess I should have put her in more of my videos to get 3 million views!!

Yes Jody i guess we all like those vids. Recently I know of a girl who applied to BGT and auditioned but was turned down at the first hurdle. Now this girl can sing, dance, act and has been in several stage plays. Yet you get a host of people allowed on the stage for TV viewing because they are bad! This show isn’t about "Britain’s got talent" it’s about TV ratings. Getting a £ from each and every one of the masses. A lucky few can maybe use the exposure to get ahead but this jump, in my eyes, is short lived and soul destroying for hard working people starting at the bottom run in the industry and working their way up. This is a difficult industry without having to deal with inexperienced judges who are dictation to creative people about something they couldn't possibly know. Standing in the way of real progress.
So true Colin, what rises to the top is not necessarily the most talented for sure. Still, its our choice to be in this business and we feel compelled to create so we do it, regardless if anyone sees it. I guess we just keep putting it out there and see what happens. There's an old showbiz saying- "I worked hard for 20 years before I became an overnight success!"
Jody, are you currently in production or looking for material? Do you ever produce comedies? Where can I find a reel or link to your work? Best, Emily
Hi Emily! You can check out our website http://whaddyagonnadoaboutit.com/ We are available for hire for the right projects, regardless of the type! Are you working on a comedy now?
That sounds interesting - Great novel ideas are important and dreams do not come into it. It is more spadework and collaboration.

Hey Jody! Yes I am working on a comedy! Just completed one which I may seek funding for and have jumped right into writing another...this one a family animated comedy! 30.30 is a great idea! Jus started watching a few and enjoying them! Great work!
Thanks Emily! We have another coming out and broadcasting on TV in SF. We are in need of post production funding to get all of the shorts edited. Then they also need to be edited together into one feature film! Its a complex, multi-format work. Ideally, I would like to create a phone app and release them on mobile, in order. Hey, have you checked out the trailer for our feature coming out? Its in a contest, hope you can vote & share it via twitter/facebook/etc! http://www.internationalmovietrailerfestival.com/all-trailers/rabbits-an...

Hi Jody, first of all welcome to Stage32. I've been here since the end of last year and it has done me wonders. It sounds like you're the exact person myself and around 50,000 people on here would like to stay in contact with. I have recently produced and directed a short film with a huge help from stage32. I have a blog about it if you want to read all about it.... http://vibrationtheshort.wordpress.com/ - Keep in touch.
Thanks, Stephen for those encouraging words! I've got your blog up, but haven't gotten a chance to read it yet, but I will! Glad to connect with you!

Wow great stuff I'm trying to put together a Television Network based on BBQ. Why because I love BBQ!
Wow Darryl! That's one of the most specific dreams I've heard in a while! I love BBQ, too! But a whole network? Well, cooking shows & travel shows obviously. How about a reality show about a family that owns a BBQ restaurant or one of those smokers that you pull behind a truck! Really fun idea, good luck with it!
Let´s start doing some god dreams in bad times.....

now is the time for dreaming! During bad times is when there are opportunities for new perspectives, fresh ideas about what our world CAN look like! Talking to creative folks like you guys helps me to remember this when I'm grumbling about barely being able to provide for my family. Times are tough, this is our reality, and I'm not only talking about a bad economy. There are people that feel threatened by the creative mind and are constantly trying to control it- lately through internet control like CISPA. The internet IS the NEW FRONTIER- the battleground where independent artists can level the playing field.

We all want the same thing. Seems like we could all get together and make our dreams come true.
Dear Vijaykumarverma, read your offer, seems a bit strange to ask for 10 Million US$. Start with something small. We always can do afterwards more. Kind regards Marii
Marinella, I'm not sure what that last comment was about. It doesn't seem to belong to this thread.
Hi Masuda! It would be great to do a production in London! Although I have no idea what its like to produce media there. Is there government funding available, or do you find individual/corporate/studio investors?
Hi Masuda, please check out Gideon's Loop, A science fiction adventure. You can email me directly tlpmag@aol.com if you have any friends in the business. Many who have read it say it would make a great movie or T.V. series. Spread the word for me please because this is my dream and I cannot let it go, thank you for your consideration and have a great day!
That sounds great.
