Make it YOURSELF!

Hey guys! I am a screenwriter from Brooklyn and looking to go out for funding for one of my scripts. I have been mulling around kickstarter but do not think I can get what I need ($-wise) on there. I recently put together a brief production package with a synopsis, characters, etc. and am going to start sending that out to producers/ production companies. Any other suggestions?

It is indeed a great idea, but then again, who doesnt think their idea is great?! And how does one get around the all too typical 'no unsolicited scripts or inquiries' way of things?

pardon my diction! my story IS great! i am currently taking classes, my friends and family are drowning in all of this along side of me haha I was trying to get to tribeca film festival but I will be in Toronto for FAT. Even so, networking there seems tough because you are either in the theater or on the streets of NYC!! I have been thinking and may go out for funding to shoot a teaser! thanks so much for all the advice willem! love the name by the way! did you know billy idols' son is named willem?!

Assuming this is a feature project, why not try your hand with putting together a short first? It'll get you and your crew's feet wet, give you something to show folks, and you ought to be able to crowdfund some/most/all of it and build a fan base around yourself for your next thing down the road.

Kickstart a short.

thanks for all the great advice guys! it is too bad my film is heavy in character actors, and shot in vegas, so this is a tough 'short' road. still mulling over this but think the 'long' route may be the best..will keep you posted and fell free to check in and let me know what you guys are working on! xx

What I was suggesting wasn't to convert your feature to a short but rather to make a separate short so you could get familiar with the process. If you can find a way to tell a short story tangential to your feature, all the better.
