Seeking Illustrators and After Effects Animators and General Advice

Just searching for a few good men/women for a small indie animation studio based out of Sacramento. Location is irrelevant due to the wonder of the internet, but local talent would be lovely. We have incredibly solid (funny and poignant) shorts and episode scripts and a handful of talent team members, but we are looking to kick production into overdrive. Also seeking ideas and advice about the business side of things, particularly funding and acquiring agents. We have a business model, but we are always looking on improving our methods and learning from those who have tread before us. Also feel free to comment or post if you have any relevant information or what have you.

I just finished creating music, sound design and Foley for a beautiful hand drawn animation. If you ever want to discuss sound, drop me a line. Also if you would like some advice as to how to prepare for sound don't hesitate to ask. : )

Rob Little

I would like that. I am naive to sound and that was one of the next things on our agenda. We will need to start recording scratch tracks (which we can do) for VO but we are also trying to find sound fx libraries and I am trying to figure which program I should use for sound. I am more versed on the visual side and less so with audio.

@ lllerent One of my "facets" - I'm a Jazz Musician, something we say; "No one was born with a horn in their hand". Get you feet wet - it feels good : ) @ Rob - Our brains process sound much quicker than sight. Some of the films I've Scored / Produced Music and created Foley for had a BPM that was a ten thousandth of a second in accuracy. To do a good job, it needs to be another team member. It's a whole other skill set that can be faked a few times, but then later it becomes obvious the inexperienced person is sounding the same on each project. It is possible to set up Sound and Music to be done quickly. First and foremost know your exact frame rate. In Sound and Music we use "DAWs" - Digital Audio Workstations. If your DAW cannot hold a bpm that is the accuracy I spoke of (two numbers after the decimal point) than the sync will look bad. The animation I just scored had a recorded song that they " cut " to. Luckily the recording was an excellent choice since it was live musicians that were as accurate as a computer! Anyway because I was working on an animation film that had such great "hits" - points where there was a new scene or action, I was able to create a "map" of where sound landed quickly. The end product is quite incredible. I'm expecting some amazing festival results. : ) I was also given the freedom to create some musical "jokes" that enhanced the humor.

any clips of your work?

Wenda Zonnefeld

Yes, there are clips of my film scoring, if you look on my website www.wendaz.com I need to upload a reel for my Foley and Sound Design work. My website also has links to my vimeo site (links are next to awards) The video game that I do Foley and Music for is called The Agiliste and is a free game for iPhone here's a link to a review https://vimeo.com/33635067 I won't have time to make that Foley reel until next week.

yup, my site www.dttl.cz/atd.html a short flash+after effects animation if you roll down a bit

Wenda Zonnefeld

@ Rob Little - If you PM me i'll give a link to a private youtube site once my Foley and Sound Design example is up. Most of my work is currently in contest, and I don't want to ruin the animations chances when festivals demand no other public viewing.

You're kidding. Illustrators? Really? I thought people like me, an illustrator and... I know I know I'm a throwback to a bygone era, 2D animation, were mostly expected to just go off and die... preferably quickly and invisibly. If you're still looking for such folk, have a look at my site and my vita. What you're doing sounds simpatico with what I'm about. ~ ljroseonline.com
