Hey guys! I am a screenwriter from Brooklyn and wondering why film makers get all the glory and FaceTime at festivals and why us writers have to submit to contests and just cross our fingers that me make it to the top? Does anyone know of any festivals for writers of un-produced scripts? I cannot believe an industry so saturated in making money off people who want to gain entry has not thought of a networking awards event for this? Anyone?

You can always go the writer/director and/or writer/producer route. I know one writer who went the self-direct role and she loved the experience so much she said she'd never go back... Haven't yet tried it myself though.
