Indie filmmakers, would you spend your precious film budget on a PMD? Someone to do your social media dirty work. Interested to hear who's hired one. Key to success or waste of money? http://pmdforhire.com/

Not only are independent films benefiting, but the major ones too - if only for the wrong reasons... Ever seen a film advertised to death then when it comes to the reviews its a major flop. It seems that happens all too often and social media marketing is a way they can compensate for a film that is essentially a load of balls.
So over exposure of a film is a bad thing? What if you're a no-name indie filmmaker, and this was the only way to get eyes on your film?
Of course that is fine. I'm talking about the major blockbuster fims that spend millions on advertising alone.
yep, I definitely agree with you on that one. Too much last minute advertising... a sure sign the film turned out really bad ;)
The flip side is when an awesome film gets essentially spiked by the studio (no marketing dollars), yet ends up being a cult hit on DVD anyway (Sunshine). Then there's the award-winning indie doc (ours), that just didn't have the money to do "real" marketing, despite being very well received at festivals and by audiences in ~30 cities... http://www.americanharmonythemovie.com
