No, everyone should respect the person who is sitting next to them in the theater. I always get so annoyed sitting next to a stranger and seeing the light on the phone in the corner of my eye while trying to focus on the film because he/she feels the need to check their text messages.
I think this attitude belongs to this "culture" of " I don't know why I am there but I want to be seen there..."not sure it is really effective ...............................in the dark.
no they shouldn't mind you I tend to go to the cinema at weird times sometimes I get lucky and its just myself and the projector for example I went to see THE DARK KNIGHT in Edinburgh and I was the only person in the 200 seat screen as it was on during the day and when the fringe festival was on plus it was raining still the answer is no not just for texting either I have seen people record the movie on their i phones aswell
While it shouldn't be allowed, the sad truth is that people will still do it. The only case I can think of where it might be justified is if the person is taking notes for a review or a study of film. For those few who may be allowed, theaters might consider a higher priced seating area off to one side. Not only would it increase the revenue, but it would allow non-texters to enjoy the movie without little flashes of light pollution.
It shouldn't even be allowed for review or study notes. People were able to take notes before everyone owned a mobile phone so this shouldn't be different this day and age.
No. Shouldn't even be on the table as a question. If you want to text/talk with your friends, go to an environment suited for that. A movie theater is not an appropriate location for it.
No, it is distracting and selfish. For the most part, attending a weekend showing at a multiplex is a horrible experience. The crowd seems happy just to be out of the house and if they want to go berserk, oh well, just deal with it. Ain't it really a candy buffet anyway? Week night shows, if you can go then, are so much better. But don't you hate it when you go into the auditorium...the show starts...and you're the ONLY one there? I move to the last row and sit against the wall when that happens... A few berserk people are OK. Just so it don't reach a tipping point. Hit my pixilated, paranormal blog at http://bit.ly/gw7fAE
No, in fact they should have a phone blocker as soon as you step through that door so no one can do it.

Saw an article on this yesterday...Texting integration. What a ridiculous concept.

I agree that the answer is No. Taking notes may be one thing, but live texting is another. What's within should remain there until you leave.

Yeah, but at least the bright light from the little screen repels the bedbugs.
