Is it better to pay for professional coverage on a first draft or to just pass my script to whatever friends I have who will read it and give me the best input they can. Most of my friends are not in the industry so I don't know how much of their advice I should heed.
I'd wait to pay until you've finished more drafts. If you can find (or create) a local (screen)writers group, you can trade feedback with folks.
Thanks, guys. You really made that clear and easy... j/k. Actually, that kind of sums up my thoughts. Ben, I like the idea of a community of peers reading eachothers work objectively. I will look into Talentville. The definition of "first draft" is also a bit subjective, I guess. For me it is getting from A - Z with a "seemless" story." There obviously is some reworking, but ultimately it is that first +/- 100 pgs. Thanks again.
Good point!
