I know this may sound cliche' but guys, don't give up on your dream/goals, you will make it. I know some days you want to throw in the towel, rip your scripts to shreds, throw your equipment and/or turn in your card but please, don't. Your life is a journey. I'm 22 and have not earned a college degree yet. I have went and dropped out of college 2 times due to things from financial problems to being homeless. Now, I am trying to finish my studies in Law and dabbing into Theatre in the fall. My life is nowhere near perfect but I can't complain because there are people out here worst off. I want you guys to know that, the journey won't be easy but in the end, the reward will be great. Whenever you feel like giving up just remember where you came from. You have been through so much but you're still here. Sure, you may not be exactly where you want to be, heck by the age 22 I wanted to be in the process of taking my BAR exam/practicing law, having my own place out of Baltimore, as well as publishing a novel, but things don't always go as plan. Sometimes life pulls you in a whole new direction. Try and stop worrying about 'where you should have been' or 'what if', I wasted 4 yrs doing that. Get up, seek help and take action. It's never too late to make your dream a reality, guys. Anyway, I know I rambled a bit, but I just wanted to say a 'few' words.
Good luck! Sounds like you have a great talent. Never let that go.
Inspiring post, Shanika. Got me fired up, I'll tell you that. Never stop believing. Don't let anyone tell you "no"...Thanks for sharing!
