Being a paramedic for a long time bring many experiences a part of my storytelling, of course tragedy and pain is no laughing matter, except when on bloopers or comedy, most made up, everything I have seen is real life and yes, some things people do are real stupid but that's why truth is often more funny than fiction. For me I have loved being a Paramedic and helping people, solving problems, like puzzles at times, saving lives and also have the disappointment of seeing lives lost and people suffer great pain through injury and illness, an experience I suffered in January 2013 when I was assaulted and suffered an injury that has since prevented me for doing what I love to do so I seek alternatives, the desire to write for a show, a movie, consult and bring reality to a screen is strong and I reach out through stories of real life respecting people's privacy by keeping names and exact locations confidential, these are real stories that people just would never guess Paramedics see and deal with, it is what keeps us going. I will bring a story or two a week to this forum, I hope to get a laugh, a smile, for me, therapy and reflection, maybe a new beginning if Denis Leary wants a writer for SIRENS on the USA Network, does anyone have a string to pull? Wrong Pill- I attended a call for a man who was upset, he had just got a new prescription for Viagara and decided he would put all the pills in a bottle instead of keeping it in the package, he also kept his Imovaine in a similar bottle in his drawer by his bed, a sleeping pill that is smaller but the same color as Viagara, so as I walked into the apartment, I he was in a panic, having never taken Viagara before and taking two of them by mistake he said. " I accidentally took two Viagara by mistake instead of my sleeping pill", full knowing that he also has smoke some pot and had no one else room to enjoy the potential moment with, I chuckled in silence , he said," what is going to happen, what should I do"? I said, grab a bag of chip, it looks like you are going to be UP for a while! Long Trip for the Old Gal- a couple years ago I got a call to the main train station downtown, it was a nice summer day, middle of the week, we pulled up in front of the main transit building and were met by a security officer with transit, he introduced us to an old lady, mid eighties, British, dresses in very nice expensive clothes and very happy but lost. I introduced my self and asked where she was going, she said to visit her sister, she was aware of her name, her county but a bit off with the address, she said I was a fine looking man and that wanted to take me to lunch, and then asked is we would drive her to the country to her sisters house which she had no idea where it was. I was happy because it was the first time in years a lady had asked me to lunch! When the police arrived we searched her bags and ID, she was from England, she had her passport and a few numbers written down, I called these numbers on my own cell, after a few attempts I got in touch with her daughter, the old lady had decided she wanted to leave, hang out with her sister, ( BTW her sister was deceases a long time ago). Some how she had went to the airport where she lived closest to, bought a ticket and went on her way to travel across the Atlantic to Canada, she took a limo to the downtown bus terminal and there she was found, lost, happy and not a care in the world. I asked her, do you know where you are now, she smiled and said," does it really matter, in here"! I said " don't you want to be with your daughter in England"? "oh No"! she said, she never lets me visit anyone when she is not home" I said I guess you are showing her now! . A sure signs of Dementia, visiting dead people 6000 km away.
