The best path to becoming a special effects make-up artist

Hi my name is Francesca Tate and I am currently a student at school who aspires to become a special effects make-up artist and I am looking for advice on how to reach my goals. I am currently in year 12 (16 years old, 2 more years of school) and I am thinking of leaving school next year to do some courses at WelTec can anyone give me any advice on whether or not this is a good move?

Julie Austin

Hi everyone! My name is Julie Austin and I work with artists of all kinds to help them get sponsorship for their projects. I don't make the phone calls myself, but teach you how to run your career like an entrepreneur through sponsorship. I also handle PR, marketing and sponsorship for finished projects. Crowdfunding is a great way to raise money, but small business sponsorship is going to be the next wave of creative financing for artists. There are over 28 million small businesses just in the U.S. with billions of dollars in sponsorship opportunities. I want to teach artists what I learned as a sponsorship director for a TV pilot in how they can get that money for their own projects. I'm currently working on a unique web series with actor/director Bill Duke in securing sponsorship and PR. Check out my website at: www.indiesponsor.com.
