Hi, I am Debi Wahl the owner of Act 1 Productions traveling theater. Currently we travel to 6 states, on multiple trains and boats, as well as corporate, private venue and church affiliated work. I take murder mysteries, comedies, concerts, speakers and impersonators to these functions. My crew has been the elves on the Black River Western Railroad for the past four years. We have been rebooked for season 5 and I am hiring more local actors. The train rides go on unless a state of emergency is declared. I need to find people that are more centrally located for traveling safety. Think of the weather pattern this past December! =) Who I am hiring: non-union actors and/or singers. While singing is a plus, it will not stop you from being considered. You must be child and family oriented. If you don't like children and pushy parents, this is not the job for you. If you have high energy, are detailed to greeting every child and parent, safety conscious due to train ride, have ability to improv or are willing to learn and a customer oriented personality, we want you. Act 1 Productions is an EOE. These are seasonal, paid gigs on Saturdays and Sundays. Beginning the week before Thanksgiving through the last weekend before Christmas. Costumes are provided. Actors must be old enough to drive and not have limitations on drive time due to the lateness of the last train. Pay is $35 per show. All trains have two shows, some have three. All actors receive a schedule two months in advance to make sure there are no conflicts. Actors sign a release that they are independent contractors for Act 1 Productions and a contract to show up on dates they accept. Unless there is a personal emergency, you are expected to show up for work. Any actors that make more than $600 in the calendar year will receive 1099 Misc. We are a fun team. Act 1 Production's crew looks out for each other and many of my younger crew have gone on to work in NYC and CA in acting, comedy, dance and booking agent status. Great post, Debi. Be sure to list your project and your needs in our JOB POSTINGS section. This is where Stage 32'ers go to look for gigs. You'll get a ton of eyeballs on it over there. Good luck!
Thanks Richard... will do that right now!
