Although Jessica has a manager, she has been invited to meet with one of the country's top notch modeling/acting agents! She will walk the runway and do a monologue. Any suggestions for her to be a total success? Also we need to find a top notch monologue obviously kid friendly

Jessica, as a manager myself, it is your manager's job to know who you are and help you to find a monologue that best fits your character. You should always have three to four monologues prepared at all times. Maybe a dramatic expressing anger, one that evokes a tear jerking response, and a comedy. These are three of the must haves. Break a leg and confidence through training and practice will flow through you as soon as you walk through the door.

Thanks so much for the advice. I am Jessica's mom. I called her manager and at first they hesitated as if they didn't want us even going to this place. Second they advised against it, and third they said for monologues to go to the library or the book store. For whatever reason they are just not being as supportive as I'd expect. We have done some at home auditions that are tear jerking etc... but they've been confidential. I guess I'll need to hunt some up for her. Thanks for the support!

Well, I purchased a monologue book for kids from the bookstore and got a fantastic outfit for the runway, just need to find the RIGHT shoes for her!

Feel free to message me videos of her monologues. I will be happy to critique. Let it be known, I'm very tough. I don't give out compliments unless they are well deserved. :)

yeah
Van Thanks for the offer! We have chosen which monologue and started working on it. We also have practiced our Runway walk. We've purchased some new trendy clothes - top has a v neck, bright, fun and easy to move in! Do I put light makeup and or lip gloss/lipstick on her? Do we do jewelry, I picked up a small bracelet that has some rhinestones on it to catch the rhinestones on her bright pink top. (just on the pocket)
Attire and accessories really depends upon the objective. Do you want them to see her or what's she wearing? Keep everything very simple and low key. She needs to look trendy and age appropriate but there should be an air of confidence not conceit. She should be able to look at them all straight in the eyes and introduce herself as if she is already a star. Her runway walk should be filled with an air of supermodel fused with kid appeal. Last but not least, she needs have fun with the whole experience. Enjoy the moment, don't worry about whether they like you or not. Do your job and move on to the next one. :D

Since she's going in for both modeling & acting, I think we're pretty neutral - as you suggested! Nothing on her - to me - is stating look at my clothes and not at me. The top is solid, basic, and yes v neck. The pants are form fitting but not blaring with color. Shoes are plain black, easy to walk in. She is loving the practicing the runway... something she's never done before but wants to so badly. We watched a bunch of youtube videos today of kids in the US doing their walk. We will continue to rehearse the monologue - which she loves because she feels it is like real life situation to her. I"ll be in touch once she's got it memorized and thanks so much for constructive criticism.
