Hell everyone, new to this site. I am an independent filmmaker and currently just finished shooting a Documentary film. Released the trailer few days ago. Would love it if you'll could have a look at it and let me know what you think :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5HR5j5nBI4

Michael Nielsen

Looks great! Makes me want to see more!

John Frank

Thanks a lot :)

John Frank

Thanks a lot Julio :)

Shannon St Germain

this looks fascinating. I would check it out because you made the film look exciting. good job.

James Patrick Brown

I saw a comment about the value of adding words and original sound. I agreed with that point, but I also think your response was that your focus was on visuals. Do you have a script and/or treatment? I'd be interested in looking at it. With regards to what you are offering supporters of your crowdfunding campaign, one thing I'd like to see is out takes, interviews, and behind the scene footage. Also, who else worked on the project with you? Who are the dancers? What is the context of the film. Maybe you need a documentary screen writer to help you prepare for post-production and distribution marketing. Let's talk.

Colin Chaston

Ajith, it's well produced, interesting and I would love to see the whole documentary film.

Debbie Elicksen

What Colin said. :)

James David Sullivan

I agree with much of what JPB said. Most of the shots are good, but I'll bet you have even better - especially sound bytes of interviews in the video. And you definitely need a voice over to sell the project. Interesting images are one things, but you need to convince viewers that there is a story behind this. The music is good. I think you just need to work on a good persuasive voice over and edit in some good sound bytes. If you're using a digital editor, and I presume you are, that should be easy.

John Frank

Thank you James. Yes, I do have the sound bytes of the interview, live sound and definitely we will be recording a voice over, without which the Documentary would seem quite clueless to the audiences :) Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

James David Sullivan

You need some voice over during the trailer. The next time you can watch some trailiers, notice how they sell you the movie and make the plot more understandable. (In your case, it's not really a plot, but you will want the documentary to unfold as a story.)

John Frank

Basically I wanted the trailer to be a visual teaser. So that is the main reason why didn't opt for voice over in the trailer..

James David Sullivan

If you want my opinion, and that's all it is, leaving out a voice over is a big mistake. The visuals and music are interesting, but they don't let the viewer know what your documentary is all about and why they should watch it.

James David Sullivan

I think you should watch some movie trailers - perhaps documentaries - so that you know how others do it, people who have done it successfully lots of times. I am sure you can find many movie trailers on the Internet.

Erik R Barrett

Not sure what it's about or why I should watch it.

John Frank

Yes James, I do know I can find many movie trailers on the internet and I have watched many too and I do agree with you that others include voice. I wanted to try out something different and wanted only the viewers to have a visual teaser and hence I choe not to use any voice overs in the trailer. Well, I do appreciate your feedback. Thanks a lot.

John Frank

@Erik R Barrett - Well I guess description in videos are given for people to read so that they can make sure what it is about and why they should watch it :)

LB McGill

very nice!
