Shared from Kevin McGlinchey, Lighting Technician While shooting on a railroad trestle, in what seems by most accounts to have been done in unauthorized fashion, the production created a dangerous situation that resulted in Sarah's tragic death as well as injury to others. A freight train, with a driver apparently oblivious to the set plopped on its tracks, was unable to stop in time to avoid causing disaster. While I never knew Sarah my heart goes out to her and those who loved her as well as the other crew hurt and the poor CSX engineer who surely was traumatized, too. There's a petition asking the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honor Sarah during its upcoming Oscars telecast. I hope that this will also raise the consciousness of those in production everywhere that no shot merits recklessly jeopardizing safety. I'm seeing signs all over Los Angeles. Just this morning I saw a 5-ton with a huge slate with Sarah's name painted on it driving to a location. Painted. Not a banner.
