Filmmaking / Directing : "Blue Jasmine" by James Stewart

I just watched "Blue Jasmine" last night and thoroughly enjoyed the performances of Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins. I was, however, put off by the choices of the other men in the film who were supposed to be Californians but who talked with Brooklyn accents. Did anyone else find that poor casting?
