Hi everyone, My name is Charlie and I live in Queens near JFK in NYC. I was a music teacher/musical theater teacher for 21 years and moved up here for the 2012-2013 school year after 18 years in Florida. Well, long story short, the charter school I was at was 600K in debt and their way of eliminating debt was to let teachers with lots of experience go. Needless to say 21 years counts as a lot of experience. I figured since I have been on stage so much and taught acting to many students, I would give it a go for myself. Since I am musically trained and I have perfect pitch, I thought I might pick up a role here or there....well, so far nothing but background work on a few tv series. I am happy for the work that I have gotten, and I have done 3 student films in leading roles for NY Film Academy and Hofstra University. I am non-union because I cannot seem to get the coveted waivers, but I am still trying. I have thought about freelancing with some agents to get some more auditions, but I do not know how to go about finding an agent. Thus, this is my hope that someone reading this might have an idea as to how to go about this. I am not thinking, nor believing, that I would ever become an A list actor, I just would like a shot a a couple lines here or there. Any ideas? Thanks, Charlie
