I've written a story about Shakespeare, secret ciphers, the start of the NSA and a life long love affair.

My screenplay is titled RIVERBANK. Logline: An unorthodox colonel establishes one of America’s first think tanks where decoding secret ciphers and a seemingly failed experiment in levitation lead to the start of the NSA and helps end two world wars. This is a true story!

Indeed it's true. I know some of the story of William Friedman. Interesting premise. I did cryptography work in the Army 1969-73 and began my fascination with codebreaking during WWII at Bletchley Park. Is this story copyrighted since it happened not that liong ago? Did Friedman write anything like a memoir? If he did, that copyright is good from his death plus 70 years. I assume yours is a dramatization of actual events, so you should be in the clear. I can't help you promote this, but I'd love to read it anyway out of personal interest.

The NSA's actual history is really intriguing, especially if you count all the cryptography that happened before it official establishment. It would make for some exciting drama, and is pretty timely given the events over the past few years. I think it could be a winner if done right. If you have the chance, I recommend a stop by a Museum of Cryptography on Fort Meade. I don't know if you've been, but the historians there are amazing.
