Hey Peeps, I know finding an agent/manager is important part of taking your career to the next level besides continuous training and booking roles. When it comes to agencies though where would be a good place to look for non-union agencies? I have been through a couple of scams before moving here to LA so I know a few signs on whether or not the agency is a scam. If you guys could give me any idea of where to look for an agent for non-union actors would be awesome. Thanks and everyone have a great day.
I wonder if you could hook up with a non-union agent in another state, say Florida or Georgia, who would have reciprocity in California. Then you would have the coverage you need in CA as well affiliation in another state in the Southeast USA as this area is booming right now in film and television. Just a thought.
I'm pretty sure you can belong to a union agency even if you are are non union, at least up here in SF you can. I would always try to find a SAG franchised agent regardless of the status of eligibility and membership,
Ken, Yea I was looking into that, because the last film I was apart I had talked to a SAG actor and he said that was what he was going to do. So I am looking into agencies in Atlanta, but I haven't checked out any other state yet. Annika, I know that there are some SAG franchised agencies that accept non-union talent, but the only problem is finding out which ones are for real and which ones will slow my progress. I have dealt with two agencies that pretty much made me put my career on hold for an entire year and I don't want to make that same mistake again.
Good deal. This town is on fire with a lot of things happening. Best to you my friend. Keep the dream alive and the goal in front!
