Introduce Yourself : An Older Actress by Susan Kirby

Hi, Stage 32 Loungers! I'm an older actress having a blast playing crazy ladies, sick ladies, sad ladies, happy ladies, and all sorts of characters. Three short films I had the privilege to be in are screening in Cannes now, "When?," directed by Adrien Roux (I play Juliette, who is dying of cancer and wants desperately to leave her drab home); "Frank and Louisa," directed by Tanya Lukyanova (I play Louisa, a bit of a nag who drives her husband up a tree); and "The Exploration of Cole as Led by the Prepubescent Sandy," by Jim Maura (I play a greedy psychologist). And another film I appeared in, "In the Dark," is screening in the Soho International Film Festival (I play a Tea Party Mistress). I came back to acting after a 20 year "intermission" as an editor, and my advice to my fellow actors: stay with it! Even if you take a detour for part of your life, if you love acting, come back when you can and jump back in!
