Hiya to all the creative types out there. I can't believe it has taken me this long to sign up to Stage32 and thanks to a friend I plan to make up for lost time. I am a Screenwriter/ Novelist/ Director/ Producer/ Actor/ Tea Maker from the UK and want to connect with fellow creative minds. I have four features in development along with a number of shorts. Great to be here.

Were you a screenwriter or novelist first? Is there an easy transition between the two? I am interested in learning how to change my YA trilogy into a screenplay for television?? Not sure how to proceed..do you have any tips?

Hi Jessica pleased to meet you. First up great job with your trilogy that's fantastic. I was a Screenwriter first and had written over 17 feature scripts and lots and lots of shorts. Then I had kids and reading to them was fun and I decided to try my hand at that as I mostly write Adult themed stuff like Horror and Comedy. I found it strange at first writing long form but you have the tools in the case already Jessica and know how to tell the story. If you are doing it from Book to Screenplay I would suggest keeping it simple in regards to scene set ups, try not to draw out a an explanation in say ten words if you can do it with one. And the dialogue is king I find. But most importantly enjoy it and picture it as a film and what you want to see. Well I don't know if this helps Jessica but if you have any other questions just PM me and again well done :)

@ David. Hiya and thank you for the add. I write in Horror, Comedy, Drama and even Adult Fairytale! Yes I was Hired to write two of the features "Grow" and "The Grange" the other two were spec scripts "Odium" and "Super Organic". I love Horror but I like to exercise in different Genres as it helps keep the work fresh. And what about you David what all do you write in?

Tea Maker? Herbal teas, by chance? Interesting to read that in the mix. Welcome! Now, there's a plot... Male tea maker gets pulled into some kind of espionage... I could see that being a great adventure script... playing with stereotypes, of course. Not saying anything about you personally because we've just met. I just get ideas, wham, and usually try to put em out there to get em out of my head because that's a story I won't be writing, but maybe someone should.... ha. Anyway, nice to meet you!
