Hi everyone! So I'm pitching a series in L.A. mid-August and after speaking with one of my directing professors he said I need to have a one page break-down of the costs for producers. As a screenwriter, I don't really know what to break-down. One of my producer friends said I wrote it very smartly in the sense that a lot of it takes place inside, so it's easy to film. He said I could probably do it for $50,000 bare minimum... But that still does nothing for me in terms of break-down. Any input would be much appreciated!

I think your directing professor is wrong. As you point out, a writer will usually have no idea of costs. A producer is looking for a great premise and characters that will attract top talent. If they like it they will do the break down. giving them incorrect budget information isn't what the writer should be doing.
Hi C.F. I totally agree with D Marcus. Your job as a screenwriter is to write the script. Producers find the money. If you want to get a handle on production costs, Google it.
