Screenwriting : Script reading by William St Romain

Script reading

Does anybody on here read the scripts on Black List? I've got a few I listed there, but haven't received any feedback for any of them.

I found that to get reads now, you must pay for a review -- and get an 8 or better to get downloads.

William St Romain

Yeah, which is frustrating. How do you get an 8 when you don't know what's wrong? Guessing as to the problems is very hit and miss.

Shelley Stuart

You get full coverage back, which you can make public or not. Your reviews are also rated in various areas, so the average could be a 7, but the dialog a 10 and plot a 2. The numbers, along with the written notes, should give you an idea of what the reader felt needed work.

William St Romain

That depends on someone actually posting a review, which, as you pointed out, you have to pay for. This is a problem for someone who lacks money. The process is likely to require at least 3 or 4 reviews before you come close to fixing your problems.

Hi, I am a producer from South Africa. Currently looking for a new screenplay how do I get hold of the black list to see what is out there?

William St Romain

It is called Black List. If you look it up in google it should pop up nest to the TV show of the same name. You have to become a member to see the content, but it includes a lot of scripts by people around the world. Most can only be read by script writers. It depends a lot on what the authors allow. Some are open for anyone to read. I highly recomend being part of it.

Thanks so much! xx
