I've been hearing a lot about screenwriting conferences lately. I didn't even know these existed! Has anyone ever participated in one of these conferences? How was it? Was it workshops, lectures, or both? What are some of the best conferences in the U.S?

This is the biggie I know about here in the US: http://www.austinfilmfestival.com/festivalandconference/conference/ I've been, and yes, it can be valuable.

Definitely recommend going to conferences as an aspiring screenwriter: Austin, Screenwriter's World, Great American Pitchfest... You'll meet people and learn a bunch along the way.

Austin is a biggie for writers. I'm attending this year for the first time. Great lineup so far. http://www.austinfilmfestival.com/festivalandconference/conference/panel...

I'll be teaching at Screenwriter's World Aug 15-17th in LA, and I'll be speaking at Austin Film Festival as well. You guys should go!
See you there, Danny :)
I'm going to be attending Screenwriter's World and will be posting a few brief but pithy comments about my experiences there in mid August.

If you're going to invest in one, Austin is the one to go to -- that said, after you've been once you probably don't need to keep going unless it's for the camaraderie of cheers with your peers.
Couldn't make la this month so going first wk sept - hope to have a stage 32 meet up there!
