Use a camera that has a global shutter (grabs the whole frame at once) versus a rolling shutter (grabs the picture line by line). With a rolling shutter, you will get partially lit frames, because the sensor can't keep up with the strobing lights. Although I personally like the handling of color on a CMOS sensor more than a typical CCD, I would suggest using a CCD sensor as they use a global shutter. There are some CMOS sensors that implement a global shutter, but they are somewhat rare.

You may like to light the club as a low key night interior with some contrasting color crossing backlights , maybe down a little in exposure and then have a strobe that fires into a 7' silver umbrella at camera to give it a glam / club combo look. As mentioned, global shutter is a must so no REDs or DSLRs... unless you are OK with partial frame flash, which I have seen accpted on network TV now, but not to my taste

Are you talking about the track lighting that moves around the room? Different colors and such? IF that is what you vaguely referred to...GO rent a DJ rack
thanks for the ideas guys! I'm doing the directing and my grips and cinematographers have moved out of the area so I need some help in the lighting department.
Does anyone also now a good brand of Fogger to use for music videos as well to create fog or smoke??
