Please, any concept for a horror feature??? HELP!!!

Hi staggers, I am working on a story(Horror) and I need a concept on how to start the movie. This is the question..... What could possibly bring together a Priest, a cop, a guitarist, a nurse, ...etc ..in fact, different professions, from different ethnicity: let's say african, american, asian, etc...all under the same roof!! No age barrier and they could be married or not. A simple but really different and unique concept, not the orthodox and the traditional start-up plots we see often in horror films, example is the concept of Evil dead; there are always a group of youngstars going on picnics or vacations in some sick hunted house blah blah blah...and the rest of most horror feature films. Please, feel free to drop a concept, or a view that can help me, it might go a long way to born a great concept. Thanks... I anticipate your comments. Cheers.

power outage or apocalpyse... people looking to claim a winning lottery ticket... people all looking to have their portrait taken...

Ami Brown

What about in a hospital, the priest giving last rights to a church member, the cop following up questions with a shooting victim, the guitarist having chest pains, and a nurse on duty.

Jerry Doubles

Wow! Incredible....I will chew them over... thanks Dave!!

Ami Brown

Or they could all be coming to a confessional in a church to confess to the priest. The guitarist for cheating on his wife at an out of town gig, the nurse for taking non-prescribed pain meds she stole from the hospital to cope with the loss of her daughter, a cop for accidentally shooting an innocent bystander in a robbery.

Natasha Powell

It could also be a school after a shooting. Priest to give school prayer and religious council, guitarist teaches at school to make money, cop questioning kids about the event, and the nurse the school's nurse.

Jerry Doubles

Ami, your concept is very adorable and unique. Frankly, I love it...I have noted it!! Thanks a bunch!

Jerry Doubles

Unbelievable, Natasha, that concept you suggested makes lots of sense to me...but...if at schoool, how can we exempt the students? Since we want only the Clergy, guitarist, cop, nurse and anyother professional involved in the story to be present in a particular house. Maybe 10-15 different people under the same roof. What do you think???

Natasha Powell

I think it's a great idea. It could also be down after the school is gathered for the pep rally and released for the day, they stayed behind for various reasons.

Natasha Powell

Your idea, that is! :)

Ami Brown

If they have to gather at a house, maybe they could all be neighbors - gathering to discuss security in the neighborhood due to a ring of break-ins. Or car thefts, etc... or pet thefts.... maybe they band together to catch the criminals... Maybe they've all had something stolen and they are trying to put the pieces together - with a cop on board, what can go wrong?

A bar in a bad joke.

Anthony Moore

Shopping/Eating. They all happen to be at the same store/restaurant at the same time when disaster strikes.

Alle, actually I've got the entire outline mapped out from the moment they all converged in a house to the end. I just needed another way they could possibly come together without necessarily following the traditional ways horror films commence...

William Martell

Here's the problem: in a screenplay, everything is connected and everything springs from that inciting incident that gets all of those people into the house. It's not just a generic... it's what the story is about. http://www.scriptsecrets.net/tips/tip303.htm

A party like say a Tupperware party or something like that. They have a mutual friend that attends church loves music and could be a x ray machine salesman that knows the nurse.

Jerry Doubles

Thanks Chris... Will consider that option... GOD_BLESS

Alle, true that... No doubt, I believe in what you said...will consider my quest for ideas and concepts next time!!! I have actually finished writing the script for the intended horror movie. I finally used my initial idea. Thanks for the advice Alle...I hope we will co-write a movie soon. Wish we can find a convinient platform to chat....what do you think? #shalom

None of this means anything, of course, without a compelling conflict for them to deal with, once they've gathered. Getting five people from different walks of life in a room together is one thing; what happens to them once they're in there is another - and that's the premise. No premise is mentioned in this thread.
