Screenwriting : Walk or talk? by Neville Steenson

Walk or talk?

I have been on Stage32 for a while now and have had the pleasure of connecting with many great creative types, from Screenwriting to Directors, from Actors to Producers and all inbetween. Which got me thinking. Here we are all, we got our projects we love our projects and hell we talk about our projects. So why not pool our creative talents and combine in creating a project. Most striking to me is that I have met and connected with people from all over the world. The language might change but the passion remains the same. Here is my idea, we all create a short segment which will be linked by an overall theme to create a feature. Given we are from far and near each segment will be a horror myth or legend from a different country and run no more then 10 mins. Each countries segement will be assembled with all cast and crew from their country. We start with story and Producer and work from there. For instance my idea is for a Banshee horror from Ireland etc. So are we all talk or dare we walk the walk? PM me if you think this might be for you and we can see what comes out of it. Remember, every country has a dark myth or legend so all ideas are open. Have a great Sunday folks.

Sounds fun, albeit a massive undertaking of coordination that compounds the already intensity of pulling off one project. London Screenwriting Fest did something similar, where they selected 50 short scripts and tied them altogether with the theme/title 50 kisses. That seems like a logical approach -- because it should start with the script(s). Love the Banshee in Ireland BTW.

I agree Laurie its is an undertaking but then again I think one that might be really interesting. This is why I would love to see a number of Stage32ers of all fields get involved with each project and develop it as they would any short film. Then pull it all together under one linking thread. I think its worth at least trying as there is so much talent here. Yes Banshee stories scared ten bells of shite from me when I was a kid. I was told one was known to wander up a long isolated lane behind our house.... Well this didnt help I can tell you! lol.

I think 10 bells of shite, is your title!

Neville Steenson

Ha ha ha, um I would most certainly love to see a movie title like that. Well as long as it doesn't live up to its title that is!

Hi there Guy, yes I have seen ABC's of Death and did enjoy it. I really like anthology movies "Creepshow" being a highlight. There are many potential pit falls for sure Guy but I feel also nothing good is ever easy and if the elements are brought together it will be worth it. Hell we live to create :-D.
