Jackie Barnes, haunted by trauma from her orca training past, risks all to save kayak tour guests as Star, the killer whale she trained years before, hunts them down.
SYNOPSIS:
Get ready for a heart-pounding tale of redemption and survival! Jackie Barnes, former orca trainer at Ocean World, is haunted by the devastating loss of an orca calf under her care and continues to wrestle with her involvement with the organization ever since. Fate intervenes when she stumbles upon a newspaper article featuring Star, the very same calf's mother, who has been sighted off the coast of Alaska. In an attempt to reclaim her life and face her past demons, Jackie heads to Alaska in an attempt to help Star to make amends for the death of her calf.
She arrives in a quiet Alaskan town, the type filled with good folks just doing what they can to get by and is soon joined by two charming families and an annoying, yet amusing, Australian couple. Together they embark on a kayaking tour led by an inexperienced guide. What they don't know yet is that a drunken fisherman has just mortally wounded Star with a harpoon, leaving it lodged in the mammal's head. Star kills the fisherman outright, yet the harpoon in her skull serves as a constant reminder of the cruelty of humans, thus setting Star on a collision course with the local population, unleashing her rage on anyone who crosses her path.
As the kayaking tour ventures out to open water, a relentless storm brews, causing visibility and communication to be greatly diminished. They soon discover they are not alone. While the Australian couple are separated, Jackie and the remaining group race against time to escape Star's wrath. Unfortunately, the stranded Australian soon find themselves in the jaws of danger... Will Jackie be able to find redemption through helping Star? And will her knowledge of Orcas protect those now under her care, or has this killer whale learned a thing or two about cruelty and deception from her human prey...
With heart-stopping thrills and emotional depth, 'Star' is a satisfying blend of 'Jaws' and 'Free Willy', exploring themes of motherhood, coming of age and the search for meaning. Requiring only a small core cast and taking place in rural Alaska, the film is a great value proposition, offering an engaging, low-cost story in a proven genre. 'Star' will have you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. So get ready to dive into an expedition you'll never forget!

I'm hoping for a justifiable ending for everyone, especially Star.
