SYNOPSIS:
A dream, we’ve all had them, but how much would we be willing to sacrifice to pursue them? This is right where Sharla finds herself, having fled her toxic home life after high school to attempt to become an actress in Hollywood. While working as a bartender and auditioning for several years, she finally lands her big role in a feature film with a high profile Director. To celebrate the great news, she decides to attend a party with her fan girl roommate, Amber. At the swanky party, Sharla runs into Joe, one of her bar regulars and a hard working music manager. Joe has just started up with the biggest music agency in town and he’s got his sights set on one day walking the red carpet. Sharla also runs into the slick and handsome Jake, Joe's new boss. She ends up falling for Jake’s charm and stays the night with him. Waking the next morning, Sharla discovers that Jake is married with children, and confronts him about it before storming out in disgust.
A few weeks later, to add to her shame, she learns that she’s pregnant. Given that production starts in a few months for her dream role, she must decide whether to continue the pregnancy and lose the role or get an abortion and keep it. With advice from Amber, Sharla decides to proceed with an abortion. At the clinic, her eight-month pregnant nurse informs her that they will need to reschedule because the doctor had an emergency. Sharla leaves and begins questioning her decision. Ove the next weekend she meets a woman at the bar who works in adoption, and this causes a change of heart and she decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. This choice leads her to be blackballed in the industry after burning a bridge with the high profile Director.
Her adopted child, Elle, grows up and pursues her own dream of becoming a music star. There’s just one problem, Elle is painfully shy and struggles to perform for crowds. Elle ends up moving to Nashville after graduating high school with her outgoing cousin Jazmin to continue her music pursuit in songwriting. At the same time, Joe has risen the ranks as a music manager, but a controversial social media post lands him in hot water. After refusing to take down the post and getting fired, months later he is on the verge of losing everything as he struggles to get hired at another agency. Inspired by Sharla to keep pursuing his dreams, he reconnects with his old mentor, the gray haired eccentric Wayne, who lives in Nashville. On Wayne’s recommendation, Joe flies out in a last ditch attempt to jumpstart his career.
Joe and Elle end up on the same flight and have small interactions, but never speak. When Jazmin gets Elle a gig performing at a dive bar where Joe is in attendance, he rescues her from being berated by the bar owner backstage due to her stage fright. Joe gives her a tip which proves successful and she performs beautifully, leading to Joe becoming her manager. With the help of Joe and an original song that goes viral on YouTube, that Jazmin secretly records, Elle gets nominated for a Grammy.
Excited about the news, she and Joe fly back to Los Angeles to attend. When Joe goes to meet Elle from his hotel to check out a bar he recommended for an after party, he runs into Jake. Jake is now working as a bellhop after getting fired from the music agency when his wife aired his infidelities. The bar he takes Elle to is Sharla’s bar where she is now the manager. As Elle tours the bar, will one of the three be able to figure out the triangle, and will the re-uniting of mother and daughter lead to Sharla getting another chance to live out her dreams?
