LOGLINE:

When a group of friends with the ability to lucid dream encounters a powerful enemy who threatens their reality, they must confront their deepest fears to protect their loved ones and escape the dream world before it's too late.

SYNOPSIS:

Act 1:

Whitney is in class learning about R.E.M. sleep in her sleep psychology class barely paying

attention, daydreaming, when all of a sudden is called upon by her professor to answer his question about the reading from the previous night that she was suppose to do. Lorenzo walks into the class, late per usual, and they talk about how Lorenzo is passing the class and how often Lorenzo skips class but knows everything. The professor dismisses class due to a student who starts eating in class. Lorenzo and Whitney then walk over to the campus cafeteria where they run into Peter. Lorenzo, Whitney, and Peter all sit together and make plans to go to an intimate show put on by the “it girl” and Popstar, Nikki. Peter finds out that Lorenzo and Nikki dated in high school.

They all go to the intimate show against Whitney’s wishes to stay and study for class. When they make it to the front of the line, Whitney and Peter make it into the venue, but the security guard stops Lorenzo. There is a picture of Lorenzo that was given to the security guard to keep him out. Lorenzo tricks the security guard by changing the picture and his name on the picture by way of Lucid Dreaming. Lorenzo makes it into the venue and Peter drags them up to front row. Nikki and her band come out and plays the song ‘Black Sheep’ by Metris. During the song, Lorenzo causes a dream mirage and replaces the guitarist and drummer. Whitney and Peter notice this but before the lights come hit both the drummer and guitarist, Lorenzo stops the mirage, and everything goes back to normal. Nikki notices Lorenzo and Whitney in the front row so she invites them to backstage. They Lorenzo and Whitney go reluctantly but Peter is excited as he gets to meet his celebrity crush.

Lucid is an action/adventure, comedy, drama, science fiction, psychological

thriller, and fantasy film about a group of four friends, Lorenzo, Whitney, Peter,

and Nikki, who after getting trapped in a dream world must overcome their

differences and individual struggles in order to escape by defeating Charles before

the dream world resets. This becomes increasingly difficult because of Charles. If

the dream world falls, he loses his power and ceases to exist.

Once they are backstage, Whitney looks for an excuse to leave and the opportunity comes when Nikki’s bandmates leave to go sell merch. Whitney leaves and Peter goes to buy a shirt. Lorenzo tries to convince Nikki that they are in a dream. Whitney tries to go back and pull Lorenzo out of the room, but Charles does not let her. Peter’s ear starts to bleed. Whitney unlocks her power and blows Charles back. Lorenzo, Whitney, Peter, and Nikki all rush out to the parking garage to escape but Whitney’s car is gone so they find an SUV.

They get trapped in the parking garage but Charles and his heavily armed security. Lorenzo turns the found vehicle into a military Humvee. They drive to the top of the parking structure and ramp off a ramp car to the street below breaking the vail of the dream world and the real world for a second. They escape to the safe house.

Act 2:

They all go to their rooms but can’t sleep. Nikki goes out and plays the piano for comfort.

Lorenzo joins her and they share an intimate moment, almost rekindling what they once had. Whitney hears them and goes to see what is happening. She doesn’t like it, so she packs her things and leaves. Lorenzo tries to stop her, but she leaves anyway as she is headstrong. She goes to an abandoned little shack. Lorenzo and Nikki go after her and brings her back. On their way back to the safe house, they are attacked by Charles’ group of mercenaries and a drone. They run fast to get back to the safe house, but Lorenzo gets shot in the leg. Nikki destroys the drone, and they hurry back quickly. The safe house is on fire with more being applied by flamethrowers. They defeat the flamethrowers and Lorenzo rushes in to get Peter who is in a dream coma. A predator drone shoots a missile and blows up the house. Whitney drops to the ground and destroys everything around her and Nikki. Charles takes over Nikki and Whitney then knocks out Nikki by accident. They go back to the abandoned shelter to sleep. Whitney and Nikki have identical dreams. The mercenaries catch up with Whitney and Nikki, captures them, and takes them to Charles’ penthouse.

Act 3:

Charles separates Nikki and Whitney. He forces Nikki to practice for a tour she does not want to

go on. She refuses to practice so Charles put her to sleep. Charles then goes to Nikki who is having a nightmare and enter her head to view her dream. Her dream is about Charles and how Nikki does not want to be represented by him anymore. Peter then breaks into her dream through a window and speaks to Nikki about what is going to happen. Charles has his right- hand mercenary torture Whitney to get information from her concerning Lorenzo. It does not work.

Peter saves Nikki from Charles who is choking her on the ground. Lorenzo saves Whitney and makes tries to meet up with Peter and Nikki. Peter and Nikki are wrapped in black smokey tentacles that are attached to Charles. Lorenzo bursts in and Charles traps him as well. Charles the forces them into a dream state. Nikki sees the day her and Lorenzo broke up, Peter sees what happened to him and the reason for his ear bleeding, Lorenzo is above it all and Charles

tries to attack him, but Lorenzo enters his mind and forces him into a dream state where he relives his traumatic memories. Nikki and Peter make it out of the dream state while the combined dream states are break down. Charles and Lorenzo make it out right before everything completely breaks down.

Lorenzo falls from the tentacles, but Charles still tries to kill Lorenzo and reset the dream world. Lorenzo forces Whitney, Peter, and Nikki to leave while he finishes what needs to be done with Charles. Peter wakes up in the hospital, Nikki wakes up on a couch, and Whitney wakes up in class. Lorenzo is in a hospital, years before. His hand moves but he does not fully wake up. The years catch back and to the day Lorenzo walks into class late. He breaks the 4th wall and asks, “What have you been dreaming about lately?”
