SYNOPSIS:
In a future where time travel is possible, Sandra and her daughter Nina are convicted for fraud which they didn’t commit. Their punishment is one year, not in prison for prisons are overcrowded, but back in time, to the worst period of Sandras life. For Sandra this means the year she and Nina became homeless after her first husband Alex left them. When they are sent seven years back in time they wake up as themselves seven years younger, homeless in the snow. Sandra tries to figure out what she could do different this time, but the job opportunity that will eventually help her get back on her feet is at a company that does not yet exist, so Sandra and Nina are forced to go through the same struggle as they did before. Sandra tries to hold on till her sentence will end and she can return to her second husband Ken, on the same day in the present they were send back in time, hopefully before he even misses them. Sandra does not want to find Ken now in the past, several years before they met, she fears he will not fall in love with her as she is now. One day, she sees Ken. Expecting him not to notice her since they are strangers in the past, she is surprised to find he recognizes her. It turns out Ken was send back in time too, which makes Sandra guess he committed the fraud Sandra and Nina got sentenced for. Sandra asks Keanu how long he has been here in the past, why didn’t he try to find Sandra and Nina to help? Sandra asks Ken if what he’s going through now is holding him back to help, she didn’t know this part of his life was the worst. She tries to find out what’s going on but Ken only wants to say one thing: He did not search for Sandra and Nina in the past because she’s with Alex, she left Ken in the present for Alex, the very same day Sandra and Nina return from the past. Sandra is shocked, she says Alex abandoned her and her daughter and she would not want him back even if she could find him. Ken sticks with his story and leaves her confused. Sandra starts to think about Alex, remembering the day he disappeared, early in the morning, after a night of fighting about their money problems. Sandra returns to her old house, which is now abandoned, all of her belongings are still there. Sandra breaks in, turns the whole house upside down, looking for clues, and she finally finds a strange business card. She recognizes the logo, she has seen it on an old factory that is visible from her bedroom window and she decides to go there. It is at a remote location, surrounded by forest, and she has a hard time making it to the entrance, when she arrives security guards try to make her go away until she shows the business card, then suddenly they let her in. She finds out that this factory is actually testing time travel on people, they assume Sandra signed up for testing since she has this business card and bring her to the testing ward, while assuring very much she will receive a large amount of money for it. Sandra meets a man who tells her he successfully travelled back in time and had a great experience, he did not do it for the money, but because it was so much fun. When they prepare Sandra for her time travel experience, and when they leave her alone she sneaks out and breaks in to one of their computers. She finds files of hundreds of people, some have the status “deceased” or “failed” and some have the status “ready for return”. She types in Alex’ name and finds his file, she is relieved to find his status is not “deceased” or “failed”, but also not “ready for return”, instead it says “on hold”. Sandra looks for an explanation and finds classified files that say the financing of the time travel testing has been discontinued, meaning they can’t pay out the large amounts of money they promised most people, and so they decided to keep them in the past and not bring them back. Sandra is devastated, but then remembers the man who told her he did not do it for the money. She manages to change Alex’ file from paying out into a volunteering one, and now she can change the status into “ready for return”. She has to wait for the company to bring him back, while she must still pretend she is up for the time travel testing, postponing it as much as possible, and at the same time asking questions about where they take the people who come back from the time travel test. This of course rises suspicion and Sandra has to flee, still looking for Alex. She finds him and he is surprised to see her, he thinks he was send back in time and brought back the very same day, he wanted it to be a surprise that he found a way to solve all their money problems, and he was forbidden by the company to speak of it of course. Sandra takes Alex with her, they flee while she tries to explain everything to him. Alex has a hard time believing her, he wants to find out today’s date, and when he does, Sandra realizes that today is the day she will return to the present, for it has been a whole year already. She is now in an extreme hurry to get away from the company, they manage to get out and run through the forest, still being chased, Sandra tells Alex to meet her in the present, if he can, tells him that he must wait seven years to be reunited with her and Nina again, and before she is even sure he gets it, before she even knows they are safe from the company, she is being brought back to the present. She rushes to the place she told Alex to wait for her, and is happy to find him there. They are a family again, Sandra, Alex and Nina live together for many years in happiness. One day Sandra runs into Ken. She thanks him for telling her about Alex and letting her go, but Ken has no idea what she’s talking about. He thought she left him because of the fraud, he claims to never have seen her after she got sentenced for it. She tells him they met in the past when he got sentenced for it, but Ken says he never got sentenced for it. Then Alex shows up and Ken sees for the first time Sandra is with him, he loses his mind and yells all this time he thought Sandra left him because of the fraud but it turns out she went back to him? He snaps and attacks Alex, Alex does not survive. In courtroom, Ken is sentenced and Sandra is being consulted to determine the worst period of time in his life. She says to send him to the year he told her about Alex, making him torture himself with the decision of telling her, or keeping her to himself.

Great idea. Not a Logline, nor a Synopsis though.
