UK immigrant Kath owns and runs Curves ladies gym in the working-class suburb of Beldon, Perth. She’s tired of the daily slog and working hard with not much to show for it.

When Kath’s whip-round for the lottery results in forty of her ladies winning two million dollars EACH, most of her problems seem to evaporate overnight. She’s rich!

But once the champagne’s been drunk and the credit cards and mortgage paid off, Kath and the winners seem to have even more problems than what they bargained for.

Kath’s sister Annabel is a sore loser as she had better things to spend her five bucks on that week. Geraldine’s daughter says money is wasted on an oldie. Courtney the gamer spends her winnings buying followers on Twitch.

Teenager Isabella can now afford even more junk food and her famous sporty family are horrified at the optics.

Secretive Christine is hiding her win from her super-religious non-gambling husband and six kids. It’s nice to finally have something for herself.

Sofia from LotteryWest's job is to keep the winners from ending up as a juicy news story, highlighting the dangers of unearned windfalls. Which would be easy if not for TV reporter Lucas, who has a grudge against gambling in all it’s forms.
